MATERIALS:
Small amounts of 4-ply yarn in orange, yellow, white, 2 different shades of brown
Crochet hook size G
GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch
4 sc rows = 1 inch.

BODY
With orange, ch 2.
RND 1: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join rounds; but mark for beginning of round.
RND 2: 2 sc in each st around. (14 st).
RND 3: * Sc in next st, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around. (21 sc).
RNDS 4 - 6: Sc in each st, inc 7 sc evenly around. (42 sc).
RNDS 7 - 15: Sc in each st, inc 6 sc evenly around. End off after rnd 15.
WING
With light brown, ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
ROW 1: 8sc in ring, turn.
ROW 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across inc 3 sc evenly spaced, turn ( 11 st).
ROW 3: Ch 3, dc, in 1st st, dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, drop loop from hook, insert hook in first dc of 3 dc group just made, draw dropped loop through, ch 1, (popcorn
st - pc made), (dc in each of next 2 st, pc in next st) twice, dc in next st, 2 dc in last st, turn. (13 st).
ROW 4: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, * 2 sc in each of next 2 st, sc in ch 1, and in pc, repeat from * across to last 3 st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in top of ch-3, turn. (23st).
ROW 5: Ch 3, sk 1st st, dc in each of 3 st, * pc in next st, dc in each of 4 st, repeat from * across ending pc st, dc in each of 3 st, turn.
ROW 6: Ch 1, * sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next st (dc, ch 1, pc st and dc), repeat from * across to last 3 st, 2 sc in each of 2 st, sc in last st, turn. (33 st).
ROWS 7 - 10: Ch 1, sc in each st across, inc 3 evenly spaced on each row, turn. (45 st).
ROW 11: Ch 3, dc in 2nd st, * pc st in next st, dc in each of 3 st, repeat from * across, ending pc st, dc in last 2 st. (45 st).
ROW 12: Sc in each st, and in ch-1 of each pc st across. End off. (56 st)

For 2nd wing repeat the first wing in dark brown. End off after row 11. Place dark brown wing on top of light brown wing and sew together, place wing to side of center of body and sew together.
HEAD
(Make 2)
With white, ch 2.
RND 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook join.
RND 2: Ch 3, 3 dc in 1st st, 2 dc in each st around, join.
RND 3: Ch 3, dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) 5 times, dc in last st, join.
RND 4: Ch 3, dc in next st make 3 dc in next st, (dc in next 3 st, 2 dc in next st) twice, (dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st) 3 times; join. End off white.
RNDS 5 - 9 : Attach light brown, ch 1, sc in each st, 3 sc in center of 3 st group, sc in each st around, increase 5 st evenly. End off.
Stitch both pieces together in center. With orange yarn sl st in each st around both pieces.
NOSE
Attach dark brown yarn an inch up from bottom where sewed together. Satin stitch across 2 or 3 times making it 1/2 inch wide, then
making 5 or 6 satin stitches 1 inch downward.
EYE
Outside: With yellow, ch 2.
RND 1: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook, mark for beginning of rnd.
RND 2: 2 sc in each st around. (14 st).
RND 3: * Sc in next st, 2 sc in. next st, repeat from * around. (21 sc).
RND 4: * Sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around.
End off.
Inside part of eye-with dark brown.
Repeat rnds 1 and 2 of outside of eye. End off.
Sew this to outside part of eye, then sew the whole eye in the middle of white part of head.
TOP OF HEAD
With dark brown, repeat rnds 1 - 9 of wing. Stitch to top part of head.
Place whole head an inch down on top of body and sew on.
FEET AND LEGS
(Make 2)
Ch 10. Sc in each ch, (ch 5, sc in each ch) 3 times, end off.
TAIL FEATHERS
With dark brown, ch 70.
ROWS 1 - 3 : Working in back loops of each st, * sc in next 10 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 10 ch, dec 1 ch, repeat from * 2 more times, ch 1, turn. End off after row 3.
Lay in front of you with points facing away from you. Push together and stitch points together forming feathers. Point feathers downward and sew to owl. Sew feet in place at bottom in front of tail feathers.
With orange, ch 2.

ROW 12: Sc in each st, and in ch-1 of each pc st across. End off. (56 st)
