The way to love anything,
is to realize that it may be lost

If you have it (love),
You don't need to have anything else.
If you don't have it,
It doesn't matter much what else you have.

The Span Of Life
The old dog barks backwards without getting up.
I can remember when he was a pup.

-- Robert Frost

"Not all who wander are lost."~Tolkien

It is well to remember that EVIL is a pretty bad thing.

First Fig
My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes and oh,my friends
It gives lovely light!

Edna St. Vincent Millay

" Love signs his name in flowers ,
they fade , are ever renewed .
Pride writes in stones which crumble to dust .
And never come back . "

Rabindranath Tagore

"Death is a very dull, dreary affair,
and my advice to you is to have nothing
whatsoever to do with it."

-- W. Somerset Maugham

Love is like a mountain,
hard to climb
But once you get to the top,
the view is beautiful.

Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair,
but manifestations of strength and resolutions

~ Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

A Good Name
Good name in man and woman, dear my Lord
Is the immediate jewel of their souls:
Who steals my purse steals trash;
'tis something , nothing;
'Twas mine,is his, and has been
slave to thousands.
But he that filches from me my
good name
Robs me of that which not
enriches him
And makes me poor indeed.

~~William Shakespeare

In bed my real love has always been the sleep that rescued me by allowing me to dream.
Luigi Pirandello

I don't apologize for being hard to know
I am what I am
sulking will not change that
but apple pies and warm hands help
and I have never known a cat
that couldn't calm me down
by walking slowly past my chair.
So I'll smile for you in winter
if you'll go easy
and fill your rooms with roses when I can
if you'll stop beating me with words
and if in bed
you never turn away..................

Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things whall happen: Either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly.
Edward Teller

A Silly Poem
Said Hamlet to Ophelia,
I'll draw a sketch of thee,
What kind of pencil shall I use?
2B or not 2B?

~~Spike Milligan

The blessing of Gandhi
I offer you peace.
I offer you love.
I offer you friendship.
I see your beauty.
I hear your need.
I feel your feelings.
My wisdom flows from the Highest Source.
I salute that Source in you.
Let us work together for unity and love.

- Mahatma Gandhi

The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.
Ferdinant Foch

A sad soul can kill you quicker than a germ.
~~John Steinbeck

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
Ecclesiastes 3:1,4.

Keep a brave spirit,and never despair;
Hope brings you messages through the keen air---
Good is victorius--God is everywhere.
Grand are the battles which you have to fight,
Be not downhearted,but valiant for right;
Hope, and press forward, your face to the light.

Thunder and lightening
Wind and rain
Magnifies everything
Magnifies pain.
Is it morning already
Is the sun coming up
I feel the warmth coming
The tears drying up.
I will miss you forever
I will love you as well
The pain cannot linger
My heart cannot tell.
The next time it's stormy
The next time it rains
Will find me so wretched
And pain racked again.

Eileen Dulude 1988

Autumn to Winter
Winter to Spring
Spring into Summer
Summer into Fall
So rolls the changing year and so we change;
Motion so swift we know not that we move.

Dinah Mulock Craik

Love starts with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a tear"

We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly

O,to have a little house!
To own the hearth and stool and all!
The heaped-up sods upon the fire,
The pile of turf against the wall!
To have a clock with weights and chains
And pendulum swinging up and down!
A dresser filled with shining delph,
Speckled and white and blue and brown!
I could be busy all the day
Cleaning and sweeping hearth and floor
And fixing on their shelf again
My white and blue and speckled store!
I could be there quiet at night,
Beside the fire and by myself,
Sure of a bed and loth to leave
The ticking clock and the shining delph!
Oh! but I'm weary of mist and dark,
And roads where there's never house nor bush,
And tired I am of the bog, and the road,
And the crying wind and the lonesome hush!
And I'm praying to God on high,
And I am praying Him night and day,
For a little house-a house of my own-
Out of the wind's and the rain's way.

~~Padraic Colum~~

Other people's faults are like bees-
if we don't see them, they don't harm us.

-Luis Vigil

from Sher -Here is a poem I wrote many, many moons ago, before I was even that sick...what did I know?...

She's nothing but a memory
that silly girl that once was me.
Looking down the barrel of fate
I never blinked 'cause life was great.
My puzzle pieces always fit,
my expectations never quit.
So much joy, so little woe~
I watched my world of roses grow.

I really thought I'd have it all~
I wouldn't stumble, much less fall.
Then little things fell out of shape~
my perfect dream tried to escape.

New lives came, while old ones went~
sometimes I broke instead of bent.
I never knew but should have guessed
that each of us must pass a test.

None of us will ever leave
before we find our time to grieve.
Somehow we learn from pain so great~
for some of us. . . we learn too late.

I'll know I've learned to swim not sink
the day I leap that final brink~
And feel no need to apologize
when it's time to look into God's eyes. . .
