And if you would know God be not therefore a solver of riddles.
Rather look about you and you shall see Him playing with your children.
And look into space;you shall see Him walking in the cloud,outstretching His arms in the lightning and descending in the rain.
You shall see Him smiling in flowers,then rising and waving His hands in trees.

~~ Kahlil Gibrahn
It is wrong to think that love comes from long companionship and persevering courtship. Love is the offspring of spiritual affinity and unless that affinity is created in a moment, it will not be created for years or even generations
Kahlil Gibran

lather was thirty years old today
they took away all of his toys
his mother sent newspaper clippings to him
bout his old friends who stopped being boys...
..but lather still finds it a nice thing to do
to lie about nude in the sand
drawing pictures of mountains that look like bumps
and watching the world through his hands.

If you want happiness for an hour - take a nap. If you want happiness for a day - go fishing. If you want happiness for a month -get married. If you want happiness for a year - inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime - help someone else...............Chinese proverb

Remorse

by Truman P. Reitmeyer

A hunter shot at a flock of geese
That flew within his reach.
Two were stopped in their rapid flight
And fell on the sandy beach.
The male bird lay at the water's edge
And just before he died
He faintly called to his wounded mate
And she dragged herself to his side.
She bent her head and crooned to him
In a way distressed and wild
Caressing her one and only mate
As a mother would a child.
Then covering him with her broken wing
And gasping with failing breath
She laid her head against his breast
A feeble honk...then death.
This story is true though crudely told
I was the man in this case.
I stood knee deep in snow and cold
And the hot tears burned my face.
I buried the birds in the sand where they lay
Wrapped in my hunting coat
And I threw my gun and belt in the bay
When I crossed in the open boat.
Hunters will call me a right poor sport
And scoff at the things I did.
But that day something broke in my heart
And shoot again? God forbid.

May your inner and outer life be of balance and harmony. May the darkness be your light. May your life be peaceful, but not to the point of lethargy. May the seasons end be a new beginning.

The Man in the Glass
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn't your father or mother or wife,
Who judgment upon you must pass;
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one starring back from the glass.
He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest.
For he's with you clear up to the end,
And you've passed the most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years.
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be the heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass.

Dale Wimbrow 1895-1954

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.

Albert Schweitzer

Tiger Tiger burning bright
In the forest of the night
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

Pippa's Song

The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew-pearl'd;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in His heaven-
All's right with the world!

Robert Browning

COURAGE:
Courage is more exhilarating than fear and in the long run it is easier. We do not have to become heroes overnight. Just a step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it is not as dreadful as it appeared, discovering we have the strength to stare it down.

Eleanor Roosevelt

No Man is an Island

No man is an island, no man stands alone
Each man's joy is joy to me
Each man's grief is my own
We need one another, so I will defend
Each man as my brother
Each man as my friend
No man is an island far out in the blue
We all look to One above
Who our strength doth renew
When I help my brother
Then I know that I plant the seeds
Of friendship that will never die.

Todays expectations are tomorrows disappointments.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Dylan Thomas

I know what the caged bird feels,alas!
When the sun is bright on the upland slopes;
When the wind stirs soft through the springing grass.
I know why the caged bird sings,ah me,
It is not a carol of joy or glee.
But a plea that up to heaven he flings
I know why the caged bird sings!

Paul Dunbar

A little learning is a dangerous thing;
Drink deep,
or taste not the
Pierian spring.

Song

(by Cynthia Zarin 1993)
My heart,my dove,my snail,my sail,my
milktooth, shadow, sparrow, fingernail,
flower-cat and blossom-hedge. mandrake
root now put to bed,moonshell,sea-swell,
manatee, emerald shining back at me,
nutmeg, quince, tea leaf and bone, zither,
cymbal,xylophone;paper,scissors,then there's stone -
Who doesn't come through the door
to get home?

You can easily judge the character of a man
by how he treats those who can do nothing for him...

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,
And I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals,
and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired,
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,
And run my stick along the public railings,
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens,
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat,
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go,
Or only bread and pickle for a week,
And hoard pens and pencils and beer mats
and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
And pay our rent and not swear in the street,
And set a good example for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised,
When suddenly I am old
and start to wear purple!

Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time like dew on the tip of a leaf.
